Although Chevrolet cofounder Louis-Joseph Chevrolet was born in Switzerland, the brand that he and business partner William C. Durant founded in 1911 is American through and through. Acquired by General Motors in 1918, Chevy has played a key role in the development of the American auto industry, with classic models like the Corvette and Camaro having rightfully earned their place in the pantheon of automotive legends. Today, Chevrolet remains at the forefront of car design and production, showcasing a dedication to innovation in exciting new vehicles like the Chevy Volt hybrid and Spark minicar.
